wespeakmedical is a team consisting of Javier Gómez Aguirre and Elena de Terán Bleiberg, two Spanish medical linguists with Bachelor's Degrees in Medicine and Surgery and more than twenty-five years' experience each in medical translation EN > ES (Spain) and other medical linguistics sectors. Javier and Elena personally take care of all the projects they accept.

Elena de Terán Bleiberg holds a Bachelor's Degree in Medicine and Surgery from Universidad Complutense and Hospital General Universitario Gregorio Marañón (Madrid, Spain), and has more than twenty years-five years' experience in English into Spanish (Spain) translation and other linguistics sectors in the fields of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.

Prior to establishing herself as an independent linguistic services provider, she worked for four years as Head of the Medical Division at the translation-publishing agency Diorki S.L. Her hands-on knowledge of every step of the medical translation process and project management and her thorough understanding of client/provider relationships bring an added-value perspective to end clients and translation agencies alike.

She is a member of the American Translators Association. She speaks Spanish (native and dominant language), English, and Italian, and she has an intimate knowledge of the quality assurance process in translation (including quality standards ASTM F 2575-06 and ISO 17100:2015).

She has translated and edited more than one hundred medical titles, including Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine and Robbins's Pathologic Bases of Disease. She has translated and edited several medical dictionaries, including Dorland's Illustrated Medical Dictionary (Managing Editor).

She has been the Medical-Linguistic Advisor of the Medical Terminology Unit (UTM) of the Spanish Royal National Academy of Medicine (RANME) for the Diccionario de términos médicos (DTM) updating project (published in 2021), including the compiling, defining, and following-up of covid-19 terminology.

She has been the Medical-Linguistic Advisor of the RANME’s UTM for the elaboration of the Diccionario panhispánico de términos médicos (DPTM, published in November 2023), a joint project of the RANME and twelve Latin-American Academies of Medicine (Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela).

In her free time, Elena likes reading, learning new languages, working out, spending time with friends and family, and playing the guitar.
